Food:

Paper-thin slices of Carpaccio are gently anointed with olive oil, lemon and parmesan shavings, and the butternut ravioli with ricotta and sage butter is the lightest on earth. Order the fragrant osso bucco, falling off the bone and served with parmesan mash; the best steak tartare in town; rolled pork fillet filled with ricotta and spinach, topped with rich mushroom sauce; and finish with fruit and cheese. A nonpareil dining experience.

Wine:

A very impressive list including treasures from here and abroad, some with a hefty mark-up.

Service:

Slick and professional, with the padrones smoothly working the room.

Ambience:

Coolly modern, and very Milanese. The light and airy mood combined with serious foliage in the room creates that inside-outside feeling. This is probably the best Italian dining in town, very much under the eye of the owner, legendary Giorgio Nava.

And...:

Parking can be a hassle, so park in Queen Victoria Street, tip the guard and amble over. (GL, October 2011)
