After much anticipation, I finally made it to Perron for dinner. I was excited to have a delicious Mexican dinner with friends over margaritas...but instead what we received were greasy plates of over-priced tex-mex food. With a name like Perron there is a level of integrity that needs to be upheld, and trying to pass tex-mex food for real Mexican fare is insulting. I've eaten real Mexican food, cooked by Mexicans - it's simple, fresh, flavourful and exciting. I cannot say any of this for the dishes I ordered and ate which were; crispy fish tacos (not even on real corn tacos, as the menu states and smothered in melted cheese), spicy chicken quesadillas (with maybe a small handful of chicken inside), their house salad (R75 for a pile of leaves, half an avo and a boiled egg...?!), pepitas (basically a bowl of dried chilly and salt), jalapeno poppers (ok) and spicy corn (which was the only redeeming thing we ate). And I'm not even going to get started on the indifferent, inattentive servers! Overall disappointing, over-priced, not recommendable and frankly not worth all the fuss! Sorry.
