Sadly our first meal at the much lauded Jardine was a big disappointment. The main let down was our near 1.5hr wait for the main course, as they mistakenly gave our food to the table alongside, who sat down after we did. They didnt notice this, we did, and had to get up to enquire about it. As compensation our waiter insultingly offered us a free GLASS of wine to tide us over ... for a restaurant with such a reputation, Id have expected alot more. Free desserts were later offered, but by 11pm we wanted to get home. We passed on the free dessert. The menu is limited, if youre a vegetarian or prefer light meals, youre in trouble - faced with porkbelly, lots of meat and little else its not an easy choice. I struggled to find a dish I really felt like eating. I settled for the lamb shank which was delicious, admittedly. The hostess although friendly, we found to be pretentious. Why must the staff be full of airs and graces? Finally we were at a nice table, but had a bright light shining down into my eyes. I felt blinded at the dinner table. They later dimmed it, but not enough. We definitely wont be going back.
