Owners Description

Owner of the first of an upcoming franchise, Theo says he took advantage of a gap in the market. It’s all about quality and a menu that serves 90% fish, as well as a comprehensive sushi selection. This establishment serves all the basics, very simply and freshly prepared. This is a fish lover’s delight, with options like line fish, kingklip, sole and hake, as well as combos like hake and calamari or prawns, ribs and prawns, or sole, calamari and prawns. The interior is cheery in a melange of black, white and red, and the very basic wine list has enough options to find favour all round.

We visited the restaurant 25 April2014 for a birthday celebration and booked a table. Fortunately we booked because it was fully booked on arivall. The table was booked where we asked and the service was excellent .We thought there would be a delay with the food seeing they were very busy but the food was served within half an hour and we were 8 people. We came back from a holiday in Cape Town and honestly this was the best seafood we had anywhere. Best value for money and food is served with veggies and a separate salad ( very well prepared with sundried tomatoes and a huge chunk of feta ) corckage fee on wine very reasonable. Every plate on our table was well presented and all enjoyed their food .Even the coffee was very tasty as compared to most coffee shops.I can recommend the Famous Fishoek to anyone that enjoy seafood and the prices are very reasonable.

Famous Fish Hoek Irine - last ever visit. Cold food, old mussels, poor management, sent my plate back with overcooked seafood. What a disappointment - poor, poor, poor.

It used to be a good and wonderful restaurant, the last three times I must admit, not good at all. Service is a joke, food not fresh, and why is the restaurant empty while all the others in Lynwood Bridge are full? A question the owners must ask themselves... Today we ordered white wine, waited 15 minutes, got it warm! We paid and left, two other tables did the same, after that, it was totally empty.. All that, and while there is not a lot of fish restaurants around. I wonder why?

Always good to go there. Their service is good and the battered hake is amazing.
