The Grand Cafe & Room (Camps Bay)

What a disaster on Argus Sunday! While the food was decent (albeit over-priced) and our waiter did the best he could, the lack of staff on duty for a day known to attract crowds in Camps Bay, was obvious. As for the "service" from the floor manager, the only word that comes to mind is pathetic. Upon questioning the obscene R100 corkage charged per bottle of MCC that we brought in (not mentioned anywhere on any of their menus, or by the waiter prior to opening our bubbly), the floor manager had to call his (superior?) colleague to discuss it further with me. As someone with many years of industry experience, if you can't handle a simple query like that from a customer, you shouldn't be put in charge of running front-of-house service! Overall an extremely disappointing brunch for a group of ten, of which none of us will return and am sure many a friend will be told of our less-than-grand experience.
