Severe Food Poisoning & Shocking Lack of Management Accountability – Copper Chimney Chatsworth
I am absolutely appalled by the hazardous health standards and complete lack of professional accountability at Copper Chimney Chatsworth.
My husband and I ate at this establishment and were served a dish with completely undercooked, raw meat and degraded, old food. This resulted in severe food poisoning and medical distress. Because of this negligence, my husband suffered a direct financial loss due to taking two days of documented unpaid leave from his employer while we self-medicated at home.
This is a direct violation of Section 55 of the Consumer Protection Act (right to safe, good quality goods) and Regulation R638 of the National Health Act.
When the issue was raised at the store, the waitress claimed no manager was available. Subsequent phone calls to the store were brushed off and ignored. When finally escalated to the Regional Manager, Fiyaaz, his response was entirely dismissive. He deflected blame, demanded a doctor's certificate while ignoring the visual proof of raw food, and flatly refused to look at his own CCTV footage or interview his staff to verify our visit. He has since stonewalled all communication.
A formal complaint has been lodged with Chatsworth Centre Management, and this matter is being escalated to the National Consumer Commission and the eThekwini Environmental Health Department for a physical kitchen audit.
If you value your health and your wallet, avoid Copper Chimney Chatsworth at all costs. They serve dangerous food and their management simply does not care.
