Owner's description

The Bakery atmosphere is relaxed and fun, evident in the modern, yet simple décor in neutral shades with a splash of red, where visitors can unwind and enjoy the freshly produced fare amongst the aromas of baking bread, pastries and freshly brewed coffee. Alternatively one may dine ‘al fresco’ on either the lawns or the newly completed wooden deck.

Visitors can choose from a selection of dishes of the day, charcuterie, breads, dips, cheeses and pastries.

I recently celebrated my birthday at the venue. It truly was a worry-free experience! Everyone involved from start to finish new exactly what was excepted of them and went over and above to deliver. The ambience was excellent - the team also made sure that we had a separate corner for ourselves to celebrate. Food - as always...top notch! Service - from custom made menu's for my guests, to quick and friendly, professional service ensured me that they were on top of everything. Thus making sure that my guests and I could relax and enjoy the festivities! According to our other guests - we will be celebrating a couple of birthdays this year at The Bakery at Jordan. Thank you again to everyone from the Jordan team
This past weekend we went as a group of 6 adults to Jordan Wine Estate - primarily to taste their wines and test the ambience. The estate was tranquil and lovely (keeping in mind that we are still on the approach to peak wine-tasting season), but what really shone for us was the outstanding service we received. James, the bakery and hospitality manager, went out of his way to check on us, serve us and treat us with nuggets of extra knowledge of the farm, its varietals and the wine-making process of our favourites. (He even snuck in a sample of their increasingly popular barrel-fermented chardonnay - currently not for tasting - of which we immediately bought a case!) Tim, our sommelier was attentive and knowledgeable and offered us plenty of patience as we dawdled through the 6 wines of our choice and smashed a couple of cheese platters (...my goodness, that boerenkaas cheese though!) Post-tasting we made our way to the deck, where we savoured a spontaneous late lunch - of which the triple fried potato fries were overall crowd pleaser... of course. Overall, we were thoroughly impressed. I personally, have an ongoing love-affair with the Jordan chardonnay and have a new-found infatuation with their slightly wooded "Outlier" sauvignon blanc. I would spend another afternoon at the Jordan Estate in a heart-beat and can definitely recommend it as a summer-must do in the upcoming festive season. Make sure you book ahead of time! And beware of Pedro... the estate's unexpected timber-tease crocodile! ;)
My parents took my three year old girl to lunch at The Bakery at Jordan. While eating a dog approached their table and bit her hand - this was very traumatic. I feel that it's unacceptable to allow dogs to run around if they are not child friendly.
Had breakfast here last weekend and it was really amazing. Great food at a brilliant setting. Their Eggs Benedict known as poached and baked is awesome with the best ham ever. Not that dodgy stuff you get at some places
I have been here a number of times. This for me is one of the best ways to spend a morning or afternoon in the whole of south africa.
The venue is beautiful, where you sit overlooking a lake surrounded by weeping willows, where kids are running around on the grass.
The food is exceptional. Simple and delicious. Platters of fresh made breads and cured meats from the farm, with homemade dips and preserves, from garlic aioli to preserved figs and a range in between.
Then there are always dishes of the day from slow roasted rolled pork neck to fresh west coast line fish.
Everything is exceptional quality, delicious and extremely affordable.
If you have a family this is an unbelievable place to spend the day for all, young and old.
Alternatively if you would like to have a good meal and leave feeling happy with life in general you should go too.

NB: If you are fortunate enough to be around when chef George Jardine is having one of his saturday cooking glasses, you should grab hold of the opportunity. I have done 4 myself and cant express in words what an incredible experience it is. To learn a kitchen skills from undoubtedly one of the best chefs in africa, and have breakfast and lunch at on the most beautiful farms in the cape included, is just a priceless experience. (Sadly this is normally only during winter, but if you get a group of 8 together you can even organise your own classes)

Do yourself a favour and go. And go now!
