Assaggi 

This Jozi gem proves that there’s more to authentic Italian food than just pasta – although their decadent lasagne with asparagus and brie is a dish that must be tried at least once in a lifetime. Assaggi is all about freshness and authentic food that makes you salivate. The seasonal specials are always a good bet, like the creamy porcini mushrooms, stuffed artichokes and lush asparagus.

A good list with some Italian and French offerings, though the mark-ups on some are large.

Service is fast and efficient, though you may wait a while for your waiter when it’s pumping.

Tables are close together and the place is generally noisy and frenetic, but it all adds to the atmosphere.

The zucchini fries are one of the house specials so nibble on them while you decide what to order. (JW, October 2011)

Service slow, ordered fillet steak as medium received medium rare, no appology or interaction with chef who leaned on the table for most of the night not really engaging with guests / customers. Terrible experience, over priced for average food!



Well prepared chicken dish but really nothing special at Assaggi.



Wake up, and prepare what is being ordered. Seeing competitors like Meat Co. positioned very differently from Assaggi does the same meat better, prepared as requested and considerably cheaper price!



Ad in Eat Out, as with most reviews, is mis-leading.
