Spanish flavour in the V&A Waterfront

Salero (Spanish for saltshaker) Restaurant and Tapas Bar, is the latest glamorous addition to the popular V&A Watefronts ever-growing list of eateries.

Inspired by his frequent food fuelled travels to Europe and especially Barcelona, Salero is the brainchild of Luis Viana, owner of Cape Towns glitziest seafood restaurant, Baia.

Viana, together with his chef de cuisine, Matthew Hawkes, aim to bring the convivial spirit of the Spanish tapas culture to the Mother City. Situated upstairs in the Waterfronts brand new Link Mall development, the restaurants large verandah offers beautiful views of the western seaboard and Robben Island.

Apart from the over thirty tapas dishes (such as smoked salmon with mustard and dill, kingklip and salmon ceviche or prawn and asparagus wrapped in phyllo), diners can also look forward to specialities such as a prawn and crayfish burger served with tomato and avocado salsa or whole baby kingklip prepared in olive oil, coriander and lemon.

In addition the restaurant will pride itself on offering a selection of home made ice creams, pasteis de nata, fresh fruit tartlets and a range of freshly baked cakes.
