SŸN has been conceptualised by the two Chefs who masterminded the concept of Gåte in Stellenbosch, the two being Top South African Chef Warwick King (The Stack, Delaire Graff) and multi-award winning Chef Rikku Ó’Donnchü.
The restaurant is situated in one of the most attractive areas of Cape Town, Bree street, on the third floor above the popular Italian destination restaurant Villa 47. The name of the restaurant is pronounced like 'sin' but means great expansion, which the duo plan on doing a lot of this year.
SŸN at 47 is a ‘permanent pop-up’ running from July to October, closing just before they open their permanent restaurant also in Cape Town's City Bowl.
The resume of Rikku has names attached to it like Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck and Thomas Keller’s The French Laundry as well the God farther of modern cookery him self, Marco Pierre White.
Ó’Donnchü has also started on the hit BBC program Masterchef the professionals, cooking wild in New Zealand and not to mention ad collaborations with Lay’s, yuppie chef and Robertson’s spice.
Expect the unexpected here, which, ironically enough is exactly what you’ve probably come to expect.
