Where to stock up on deli items and provisions in the Western Cape

As South Africans prepare for a nationwide shutdown, many are going to big supermarkets to stock up on the essentials. But as the large retailers run out of essentials, it’s a better time than ever to look to smaller businesses that we can support as they help keep us nourished. Here are some of our favourites in the Western Cape.

Note: When this article went live these businesses were still open for deliveries and collections. Follow Eat Out on Instagram as well as the individual Instagram accounts of the businesses below for up-to-date information.

Chardonnay Deli (Constantia)

Breads, chocolates, cheeses, coffee, jams and more. Whatever you need to whip up something delicious from the comfort of your home can be found at this upmarket farmstall.

The Foodbarn (Noordhoek)

The restaurant may be closed for a short period, but that’s no reason to deprive yourself of delicious, wholesome treats. Whether you’re looking for fresh bakes, fruit and vegetables or a bottle of wine, you’ll find it at The Foodbarn’s deli.

Frankie Fenner Meat Merchants (Woodstock, Claremont, Gardens and Durbanville)
