The Creamery (Newlands, Mouille Point and Salt River)

This dessert parlour is a serious treat. Ice cream flavours include peanut butter, sea salt caramel, ginger roast pear, rooibos chai, and malted milk – all made with local products – to be enjoyed in a cup or gloriously golden waffle cone, or on top of warm waffles.

Crumbs & Cream (Sea Point)

A new addition to the Sea Point scene, this dessert shop is dedicated to all things cookies and ice cream. The combination of cool, creamy scoops sandwiched between slightly chewy cookies is a match made in heaven. Pick your choice of cookie and scoop and then take your sandwich to new heights with a sprinkling of your choice.

Honest Chocolate Café (City Bowl)

Cape Town’s dedicated chocolate bar is a haven for any cocoa-loving foodie. The chocolate-themed menu ranges from bon bons and macarons to brownies and chocolate cake.  And, if that’s not enough sweetness, you can get your paws on one of their irresistible brownies topped with crunchy macadamia nuts, or the chocolate bunny chow with banana bread.

My Sugar (Sea Point)

Sea Point’s own arty chocolatier offers more than just exquisite take-home chocolates – they’re famous for their inspired gourmet shakes and cake-jar offerings, too. Sip on the super chocolate milkshake topped with whipped cream, a chocolate brownie and chocolate shavings, or the miso-caramel one with butterscotch popcorn. The droolworthy cake jars include options like moist chocolate cake topped with brownie bits, pretzel bark, marshmallow fluff and a drizzling of salted-caramel-and-chocolate ganache, and the apple-pecan jar with soft apple, nuts, cinnamon sponge, roasted apples and salted caramel.

Velvet Cake Company (Bellville and City Bowl)

Find a spot in this pastel-hued café and tuck into a slice of pink-frosted cake, or pick up a cupcake and coffee to go for a quick dessert fix. You can choose between dramatic cakes, tempting cupcakes, the dainty-yet-rich cake cups.
