Boschendal tipples big in Brussels

Boschendal’s wines have stood them in good stead at the recent Monde Selection International Wine Competition, held in Brussels. Boschendal was the only South African producer to be awarded a Grand Gold prize, which went to the estate’s flagship 1685 Shiraz 2009.

The winemaker behind the lauded tipple, Thinus Kruger was suitably chuffed, saying, “Shiraz is a variety that really talks about its origins and our 1685 Shiraz has a real sense of Boschendal together with the unique traits of the 2009 vintage. It’s cool that our stylistic intention and obsession with quality is appreciated in an international context.”

Earning further recognition for the estate were its 1685 Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 and Chenin Blanc 2010, both receiving gold, as well as its 1685 Chardonnay 2009, which was awarded silver.

Over the moon with the estate’s numerous accoldes, Boschendal marketing manager Brad Gold said, “It is a pleasure to market wines that are not only multi-award winners and amazing quality, but that also resonate fondly with our local and international consumers.”
