Country chic at Nacht Wacht

One of the oldest farms in the Overberg, Nacht Wacht, is the setting of a new contemporary eatery, Country Cuisine, dishing up a pleasing contrast between the old and the new.

Spreading wings
Melanie Albertyn, along with her husband, have literally transformed an old milkshed on their farm into an earth-toned contemporary oasis, after running the restaurant from their house became too cramped.

The food is simple, with the emphasis on fresh, quality produce.

Look forward to delicious, honest dishes with a twist such as rack of lamb (from the farm) served with a reduced cranberry and chocolate sauce, fillet with a wholegrain mustard or mushroom sauce and prawns flash-fried in sweet chillies and coconut milk.

You’re thinking fish, on a farm in the Overberg? Melanie says the fish is ‘always fresh’ and comes direct from the Struisbaai harbour. Enjoy it served with fresh herbs and lime. Yum.

Pair with wines from the Elim area such as Black Oystercatcher, First Sighting, The Berrio, Jean Daneel and Quoin Rock.

All the cooking is done by Melanie who says ‘Im blessed to do what I love’.

‘Every plate of food that leaves the kitchen is done with care and love’.

Lunch (lovely on the wooden deck overlooking the veld) and dinner is served daily (by prior arrangement) – lazy Sunday lunches are starting to become particularly popular.

Country Cuisine at Nacht Wacht also caters for functions and weddings. Enjoy browsing around the art gallery next door after your meal.
