COVID-19: Western Cape restaurants offering dine-at-home options

Since the first case of COVID-19 was reported in South Africa, many restaurants have taken to social media to announce their plans going forward. Whether temporarily closing or taking measures to serve customers curbside only or via a hatch, restaurants are doing what they can to assist in flattening the curve. The latest development amongst local chefs and their establishments is to launch dine-in options and homemade family meals, with chefs and restaurateurs taking orders via Whatsapp, email or direct messaging.

Offering takeaways or food deliveries? Let us know what you’re doing or what your favourite restaurant is doing. In the meantime, here is the list of restaurants offering a solution to dining during self-isolation or social distancing. We’ll be updating it regularly, so check back to see what your favourite spot is offering.

Bertus se Huiskos: The chef behind Overture, Eike, The Deck, Spek & Bone and De Vrije Burger is bringing weekly family-style meals for delivery. Available for daily deliveries to Stellenbosch and Somerset West and Cape Town deliveries on Tuesdays and Fridays. Check out their Instagram page for the weekly dish.

El BurroThe El Burro team are practicing social distancing with their food truck that’s popping up around the city. Follow them on Instagram to see where you can grab a takeaway next.

The General Store: Homemade meals. daily salads and provisions served via their hatch for collection.

Janse & Co.: Chef Arno Janse van Rensburg and his team have come up with two new offerings.

Order an artisanal food bag with chilli sauces, pickles, pestos, locally-foraged chicken of the woods mushrooms, cheese, breads, salamis and wine. Available for collection between 4pm and 6pm or we can delivery for those in Cape Town City Bowl.

The collaborative meal prep service will be in Constantia for collection only. The first menu will be full Italian feast featuring brands such as Jason Bakery and Frankie Fenner.
