Spur’s famous spicy Durky buffalo wings

All the Spur fans could immediately pick up that famous spicy Durky sauce flavour. It’s iconic for a reason! If you love a lightly fried wing with a sweet, tangy basting and blue cheese dipping sauce, these wings are perfect for you!

Tasters thought the wings were wonderfully tender with a surprisingly spicy kick at the end. The wings were perfectly balanced in terms of the Durky-style sweet, spicy and tangy notes, great for those who prefer wings that are sweet and satisfyingly sticky! If you’re more of a savoury wing lover, you might find them a tad sweet but still utterly moreish.

KFC Zinger chicken wings

The legendary zinger wings from KFC obviously had to feature because would it even be a wing party without them? They’re the ultimate go-to wings that never disappoint, especially if you like your wings crispy, super savoury, and with a good amount of heat.

Tasters noted that the wings were super tender, the batter was crispy and packed with flavour, which added a good amount of crunch, and the spicy-savoury notes were well balanced. They weren’t overly spicy to the point that you couldn’t enjoy them, or that the other flavours were overpowered. Some tasters noted that they would have enjoyed a dipping sauce to accompany the wings, but overall they were crunchy, spicy, fried perfection!

Nando’s flame-grilled chicken wings

Third to be sampled were Nando’s grilled wings basted in their signature sauce. The great thing about Nando’s is that you can choose your heat preference – we opted for mild for the occasion! The wings are flame-grilled, which adds a lovely smoky depth to the overall flavour, and it came through strongly in the results.

Tasters loved the smoky braaied flavour and thought the wings were generously basted, but found them a little on the tough side and lacking salt and flavour overall. If you’re not a fan of fried food, Nando’s wings are a great go-to snack!

RocoMamas old-school BBQ chicken wings

If a saucy sticky-sweet dunked wing is your thing, you won’t be disappointed with old-school BBQ wings from RocoMamas! You can enjoy the best of both worlds – batter-fried wings with a sweet, basted finish!

Some tasters thought the wings were very sweet, preferring ones with more crunch and balance between sweet and savoury flavours, while others noted they would have preferred a little more heat. They also noted that the flavours had a lovely fruitiness, but the consensus was that they were overly sweet. So, if you’re a sweet chicken wing lover, you’ll be in heaven with a batch of old-school BBQ wings from RocoMamas!
