Cape Town’s much-loved Mexican eatery, El Burro, is set to open its new taco haven this week in Tamboerskloof. The new location joins the El Burro family, which already includes the restaurant in Green Point, Cabrito, the tequila bar, and the El Burro Mexican Food Truck, which is well known for serving spicy Sunday brunch at House of Machines in the City Bowl.

El Burro Taquería will be a streamlined version of the Green Point restaurant, with the menu differing slightly to concentrate on individually plated taco dishes. They will also be serving brunch with authentic Mexican classics like poached egg and chorizo tacos.

The restaurant will be hosting a soft-launch tonight, Wednesday 29 July, so if all goes according to plan, we reckon you could be eating tacos this time tomorrow. They won’t be taking reservations, so get there early, and keep an eye on their social media pages for further announcements.
