Award-winning hotel Ellerman House has added a new dining spot to its stable, alongside renowned restaurant OneEighty. Offering an elevated dining experience that reimagines South African cuisine, Curate opened its doors on 16 May.

With a focus on bold flavours and elegant craftsmanship, the restaurant promises dishes that celebrate the land and the seasons. The multi-course tasting menu will showcase the finest seasonal ingredients, while drawing inspiration from Southern Africa’s rich culinary history and diverse cultural influences.
The restaurant is headed up by Ellerman House’s Head Chef Kieran Whyte. Having worked with chef Peter Tempelhoff at the boutique hotel for the last five years, Kieran brings a deep understanding of culinary artistry to the new restaurant.

Diners will find the eatery in the Wine Gallery at Ellerman House, which is home to the hotel’s impressive collection of wine (10 000 bottles!). It’s an immersive space that functions as both a showcase for the wine but also as a living art installation. Wine stewards pair each dish on the menu with an exceptional wine from the out-of-this-world collection.
The Wine Gallery was designed by South African sculptor Angus Taylor, and the new interiors for Curate were brought to life by one of the owners, Nell Harris, and Natalie Haarhoff of Just Design. A blend of natural textures and refined aesthetics, the space celebrates food, wine and art in perfect harmony.

“With the launch of Curate alongside OneEighty, Ellerman House reaffirms its dedication to providing guests with world-class multi-sensory culinary and cultural experiences that reflect the soul of South Africa,” says Ellerman House CEO Carol Kohne. “It is a natural evolution of our commitment to innovation and excellence.”
Curate is open for dinner from Wednesday to Saturday with bookings for 18h00, 18h30 and 19h00. For more information, visit ellerman.co.za.
