Where to enjoy a Mother’s Day special in Pretoria

It’s time to gather the family and break bread as we celebrate Mother’s Day 2022. Here is a fistful of special venues, menus and live entertainment to make Mother’s Day extra special for everyone!

Landje (Shere)

Enjoy delectable wood-fired pizzas, good wine and live music at Landje. The space offers great outdoor space for kids to enjoy, while acclaimed musicians Dian Maritz and Tharina Barnard will provide live entertainment. Make sure to book your table early. Adults eat for R450 per person while children under 12 years can join for R150 per person. Kleinkaap Restaurant (Clubview)

Kleinkaap is pulling out all the stops to create a magical menu and entertainment combo on Mother’s Day. The Tony Yoko Jazz ensemble and jazz singer Wendy Allen-Twyford will provide a light musical mood for a splendid meal a beautiful garden setting. Enjoy all this plus a mains and dessert for R420 per person. Bookings are essential.

Monte de Dios (Olympus Heights)

Enjoy a three-course buffet-style lunch for R350. (Children under 12 years pay R175.) Lunch will be served from 12pm and includes an enticing spread of breads, dips, olives, cheese and charcuterie to start. A range of warm entrees are available and be sure to keep room for your preferred dessert out of three options. In addition, tickets for the symphony orchestra are R180 per person or R150 for students and pensioners. Classical music enthusiasts can book tickets for the symphony separately. The orchestra will be joined on stage by accomplished baritone and soprano voices to perform the varios arias. Enjoy the varied repertoir of instrumental pieces, popular arias, a jazz suite and a brilliant intermezzo piece.

The Barn Restaurant at Irene Farm (Irene)

Enjoy a spectacular three-course meal that consists of your choice of a starter, a hot selection and a sweet selection. Starters include butternut soup with farm fresh bread, a savoury platter or a Mediterranean medley platter, while the hot selection includes sirloin steak rolled with a Madeira mushroom stuffing, chicken with black pepper and roasted potatoes, tempura hake, lamb curry and sambals, or the famous Irene Farm chicken and mushroom pie. Vegans and vegetarians have not been forgotten: enjoy the hearty veg bake with steamed broccoli and honey-cinnamon carrots. For dessert, choose between panna cotta jam jars, Death by Chocolate mousse, fruit salad served with farm fresh Irene cream, Cape brandy pudding with a butterscotch sauce, or orange bavarois. Note that this is a cash-free venue and bookings are essential.

The Royal Elephant Hotel (Centurion)

The Royal Elephant has carved a niche for itself by creating a range of sumptuous spaces in the its various restaurants. Dine in either the Grill Room, the Wine Cellar or at Pashash this Mother’s Day. Guests will receive a welcome drink and each mom will receive a gift. The cost is R450 per adult and R175 per child (aged six to 11 years). Make a reservation and sit down for a fascinating taste experience on Mother’s Day.

LeSi Restaurant at Casa Toscana (Lynnwood Manor)

The staff and management at LeSi Restaurant pride themselves on their excellent service and the dining experience. Don’t be alarmed when one of the troupe of singing waiters bursts into song to serenade your mom on her special day – this is par for the course at LeSi, which is like being immersed in a fine theatrical production. These singing waiters will provide a musical interlude and entertainment during the special three-course meal. Adults pay R320 per person, while children aged four to eight years dine for R160 and children aged two to four years for R80. A 15% service fee will be added to your final bill.

Tatso (Menlyn)

The Sun International Group have a long track record in the gaming and entertainment industry. Tatso (which means “taste”in Sepedi) is designed to be an uncomplicated, easy and delicious dining experience for relaxed patrons. They are planning an extra special menu for Mother’s Day at R450pp. Lunch will be served between 12h30 and 3pm. Afterwards, explore the bright lights and bells of the Casino floor. 

FlavorVille Restaurant (Boschkop)

When Mom walks in the door at FlavorVille, she will be welcomed with a well-deserved flute of pink bubbly! The Swartland rosé is already being chilled to crisp perfection for this special Mother’s Day lunch. Bring the whole family: there are ample outdoor spaces and a children’s play area. On Mother’s Day, the kids’ menu will be available too for the little ones. Start the festivities with focaccia and red pepper hummus to share. Your starter consists of a tomato risotto. Main course options are between wood-fired short ribs served with gem squash purée and roasted carrots or hake served with a chickpea and chorizo cassoulet. Dessert comes in the form of a panna cotta and berry sorbet.
