What’s not to love about markets? You can sample delicious home-made food, buy the freshest farm-to-table ingredients, support local creatives, listen to live music and, best of all, see happy, smiling faces around you! Check out our list of the best markets in and around KZN.

Golden Hours Market (Durban North)

The Golden Hours Family Market is one of the bigger markets in Durban, taking place every Sunday from 10am to 3pm. While entrance is free, the market is a fundraising initiative for its namesake special needs school, so it’s definitely a worthy cause. It has a large number of stalls with vendors selling anything from fresh produce, crafts and statues to books and clothing. Numerous food stalls offer a spread of ready-made delicacies. The market has live music and an ample seating area, as well as a kids’ play area. Ample parking is available and yes, your furry friends are welcome!

I heart Market (Moses Mabhida Stadium)

Located at the entrance to the Moses Mabhida stadium, the I heart Market takes place on the first Saturday of every month from 8.30am to 2pm. Entrance is free. The market vendors vary, offering delicious food, drinks, clothing and crafts. Everything is locally produced, handcrafted, repurposed or upcycled, showing their investment in growing the local creative scene. Once you’ve grabbed some food, chill on the benches or grass with the beautiful stadium as your backdrop. There’s a limited parking area, with additional parking available on the street alongside the market.
