French flair and summer value

Tucked away within the walls of Clico, a gorgeously chic Jozi guesthouse, is a little restaurant that serves French cuisine with a twist, lovingly prepared by chef Sean Ackerman. Just in time for summer, he has created some exciting new combinations: try starters such as seared scallops served on oven-roasted garlic mash finished with a red pepper emulsion and nuts; mains of fresh line fish poached in white wine and bay leaves, topped with a Pernod and saffron buerre blanc, and end with jellied apple served with apple syrup and a side of apple doughnut. A three-course lunch costs R160 per person and a three-course dinner set menu is priced from R240 per person. Wine can be paired with each course from an additional R85 per person. Clico’s restaurant welcomes guests who are not staying at the guesthouse, but it is a good idea to make a reservation.
