Where to get brilliant brunch takeaways around Durban

While restaurants are now open, you may still want to laze around in your PJs on a weekend or grab a delicious, warm breakfast or brunch on the go. These restaurants around Durban are doing some killer morning meals to enjoy from the comfort of your own home.

Afro’s Chicken (around Durban)

Famed for their super succulent chicken meals, Afro’s also does a slap-up brunch known for being the perfect pick-me-up after a late night. What to order? The breakfast wrap with bacon, scrambled eggs and chilli chutney is hearty, but it’s the Regmaaker that’ll really do the trick. This baby comes with eggs, streaky bacon, chicken strips, their famous tjips, livers and a toasted roll.

Bellevue Café (Kloof)

A favourite for brunches, this Kloof café is also offering its popular brunch dishes for delivery and takeaway. Order the Porky Brekkie with two eggs, two pork sausages, grilled tomato, toast and preserves; the brioche and cinnamon French toast with bacon and maple syrup; or the classic eggs Benedict with hickory-smoked ham.

Fabrica (Sunningdale)

You’ll find one of the best flat whites in town here, so make sure you add that to your order. The Smasher Breakfast is delicious and served with two poached eggs, halloumi, smashed avo and sriracha paste on artisanal bread. There’s also the Scrambled Egg Salmão with cherry tomatoes, smoked salmon and toast. If you’re after something a little lighter, the Health Honey Breakfast with granola, double-cream yoghurt, seasonal fruit and roasted almonds will hit the spot.

Glenwood Bakery (Glenwood)

While Adam Robinson and his team have opened the bakery up for sit-down again, you can still grab a scrumptious to-go brunch from their deli selection. Jars of pastries and freshly prepared bagels (in mini versions, too) are ready to be wrapped up and enjoyed. The egg-mayo bagel is a hit, as is the classic salmon and cream cheese version. You’ll also find croissants, toasted breakfast sandwiches and other daily pastries.

Nouriti (La Lucia)

Aside from the top-notch coffee, this health shop also offers an array of wholesome brekkies with a delivery fee of R15. Order the Healthy Hollandaise with egg, bacon, sourdough and a healthy homemade version of hollandaise. There’s also an omelette stack with chicken, bacon, mushroom and onion, or the Avo Smash with feta, lemon and cracked pepper.
