Cape Town inner-city gem, Mazza Restaurant, offers ultimate Lebanese-inspired dining experience

Mazza, a unique concept restaurant located in the historic Local at Heritage Square by hotelier Victoria Engelhorn, pays homage to Lebanese cuisine with an array of tapas and small-plate interpretations designed for an exciting shared dining experience.

From the exceptional exotic spiced aroma that greets you upon arrival, to the authentic menu offering and live-fire cooking experience, this quaint establishment offers the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of central Cape Town.

Chef Tevin-Lee Cooke and his team worked with Lebanese food expert and cookbook author Sophia Lindop to bring you their new winter menu, which will feature the flavours of Beirut. Authentic flavours and textures will transport you directly to the streets of Beirut by paying special tribute to the city’s culturally rich street-food delicacies.

“Working with Sophia has been amazing,” says Cooke. “Using local ingredients to create the food of her heritage, along with authentic spices and techniques, has really taught me so much about what we can create in our tiny kitchen.”

Mazza’s authentic menu recreation will allow you to explore the city of Beirut through its food right in the heart of Cape Town. The menu will feature a wide range of small-plate offerings, with a hearty array of vegan and vegetarian specialities, ideal for the ultimate shared dining experience!

“The people of Lebanon, and my beloved Beirut, tend to be poor. This is why there is such an emphasis on sharing and generosity. People gather at the table around a selection of dishes that are mainly plant-based, with an occasional meat or fish dish. There’s so much in the mix of a single meal for the vegan or vegetarian diet, and we’ve reflected that in the Mazza menu,” says Sophia Lindop.

Mazza is open from Monday to Saturday for lunch and dinner. Be sure to stop by and enjoy all that the Beirut-inspired menu has to offer.
