New Chef, new menu at Societi

With the appoinment of their new head chef, the ever popular Waterfront eatery, Societi Bistro, has launched a new winter menu.

Relying on a network of local farmers and producers, chef Stefan Marais strives to source only the best produce that is at the peak of its season.

Diners can look forward to new additions such as free range venison bourguignon served medium rare at room temperature, with butternut pureé; free range pork belly with a sticky French-Vietnamese lacquer and frites, or wood-roasted kingklip steak with citrus, chilli and garlic butter.

A selection of daily winter salads cater to the mall-weary moms, while kids can delight in such simple treats as fish goujons with mayo and frites, and croque monsieur with gympsy ham.

With the aim on putting less strain on the environment and reducing the bistros carbon footprint, chef Stefan also encourages patrons to share their knowledge of any local producers by e-mailing him on chefstef@societi.co.za

Word has it that the bistro will move to a new location soon, so watch this space.
