This quirky Durban café specialises in breakfast cereal

It may sound like something you’d find in a trendy suburb of London or New York, but South Africa has its very own dedicated cereal café – nestled in the leafy suburbs of Berea, Durban. The cheeky Cereal Killers Café is a family-owned neighbourhood gem that serves up a range of Mokador coffees and, of course, bowls of brekkie.

The impressive range, served all-day, includes the usual breakfast options like oats, Cheerios, Frosties and All Bran as well as more exciting and decadent bowls of Bar One cereal and oh-so-sweet Strawberry Pops.

The space is adorned with brightly coloured stools and quirky ornaments, and cerealbox light fittings hang from the ceiling. A feature wall is painted with black chalkboard paint and, in true Durban style, a surfboard is mounted on the wall displaying the beverage list.

This unusual Morningside breakfast spot also has free WiFi and serves hot breakfasts, brunches and lunches, making it a great early morning pitstop on your way to the office or a spot for a fun midday break.
