The breakfast wars

One might go so far as to say that there seems to be a fully fledged war underway between Capetonian eateries competing for the patronage of early-bird jetsetters and hangover-nursing party people.

Ranging from R11 to R35, most of the offers include crisply fried bacon, eggs, toast and accoutrements such as roasted tomato and sautéed mushrooms. Which has us wondering whether restaurants are actually making any money off these deals. Is it merely a ploy to get feet through the door, or are restaurants making up for the cheap breakfasts by cashing in on steep beverage charges?

Whatever the reason, we all love a good deal, which is why Eat Out tracked down some of the cheapest morning eats in town.
