What’s next for Rafiki’s?

Earlier this week, we learnt that beloved Cape Town bar, Rafiki’s, will be closing its doors in June 2016. The reason for this stems from landlord complications, along with the fact that the proprietors were not able to extend their seven-year lease, which comes to an end next year.

On the brighter side, Rafiki’s will soon be opening its doors in Nkhata Bay in Malawi. A number of staff members, including the well-known manager Saleem, will be relocating the kitchen and bar pieces to this new home, keeping alive the Rafiki’s legacy in the vibrant area near Lake Malawi.

This being their last season, Rafiki’s urges locals to relive the happy memories and enjoy their awesome specials and giveaways. The popular spot will be running several competitions throughout summer, partnering with Boardhub, SAB, Webtickets and The Mountain Goat to give away Newlands Brewery tours and cricket tickets, beer-making kits, surfboards and skateboards. Also anticipate a rotation of specials and event nights.

We’re looking forward to visiting them in the new location.
