La Pentola Hermanus

Our last minute phone booking at La Pentola Hermanus was very well handled. A magnificent sea view, very convenient parking (we knew the previous venue in this location) and on booking we were helpfully reminded where to park and happy memories of La Pentola Pretoria, augered well. Extremely well informed waiters, in a restaurant which was not full (we had tried other favourites in Stanford and the Hemel en Aarde that day, and they were full). The view provides great ambience, the decor varies and does not seem to have a common theme, in fact we put it down to the venue that was before plus what had been added by La Pentola, until we realised how long they have been there. You are clearly told its fusion food so thats what it is. Maybe we were just a bit over that by now ? Also good as they were, if you had potatoes it appeared that croquette it was, with everything, if it included potatoes. Not a great choice of sauvignon blanc, and prices that are certainly not going to endear a local following out of season. A pity, but we left rather underwhelmed and would go back if friends invited us but maybe not of our own accord.
