There’s something for everyone on the menu here. The breakfasts, which are a huge hit with locals, are top notch. Think smoked trout and scrambled egg on rye with chives, or hearty French toast topped with bacon. Look out for the brekkie specials with options like perfectly poached eggs with crispy bacon on a sweetcorn rosti, or top yours with avo and creamy, salty feta.
On the lunch side of things, you'll find the usual sandwich suspects, but with a range of fillings from which to choose. Think grilled mushrooms with feta and pesto or brie, bacon and sweet onion marmalade. The burgers also fly out of the kitchen, as do the wholesome salads.
Make sure you save space for a gigantic slice of lemon meringue pie to end the meal.
As expected, the coffees are a hit here, but if flat whites aren’t your thing, the freshly squeezed juices are sublime. Ask for the squeeze of the day and create your own refreshing combo like pineapple, orange and ginger.
Warm, welcoming and extremely observant. The team here loves what they do and it shows.
This is relaxed café-style dining. Nab a spot on the breezy and sunny deck and watch the Hillcrest traffic pass you by, or sit inside the bustling little café that offers that warm neighbourhood charm.
