Situated on the ‘wedding mile’ in Muldersdrift, Carnivore is one of the few restaurants that service the neighbouring hotels such as Misty Hills. The 500-seater offers only a set menu, which eliminates the panic of having to settle on just one or two dishes. Instead, guests are welcomed with a refreshing dawa cocktail (made with vodka, sugar, honey and lemon) before getting to try everything on offer on the set menu. Once you’re ready to begin, waiters bring a soup of the day, a tray of salads, and sauces to complement the selection of game meats, chicken, pork and beef served hot off the grill.
Tender, juicy venison is served in a biryani, the surprisingly succulent white crocodile meat tastes like a combination of chicken and fish, and the pork ribs are deliciously crispy. Waiters jokingly refer to the yakitori-style chicken as Nando’s. While Carnivore is a meat-eaters’ paradise, vegetarian meals are available on request.
If you still have enough room following the eat-as-much-as-you-want buffet, desserts include malva pudding, chocolate mousse, cheesecake and ice cream.
