Well worth braving the chilly and wet evening for the great meal we had at Casa Valdez. Between 4 of us we had Portuguese steak (cooked to perfection) , peri-peri chicken, espetada, chicken livers and chorizo salad followed by sticky toffee pudding. Unanimously we found our meals to be scrumptious! Great service and vibe, we'll be back.

The waitors and the owners are terrible. They are not kind and only interested in money. They are not professional and they do not have a real chef. And they cheat with the bills. So do not go there. Go to places like pomoodore and al forno.

Fantastic establishment! Never, ever disappointed. Must book as always full.

As lovers of Portuguese cuisine my wife and I have sampled quite a variety of Portuguese restaurants in the country and I can unequivocally state that we have not experienced any better. The reason for this is the whole package. The ambience, food and service. We had peri peri chicken and beef espatada. Both were superb. A note of caution, we went on a Thursday night and live entertainment made it the biggest party in Somerset West. Book a week in advance for Thursdays or go on another day if you feel like a less rowdy evening.

One of those places I keep returning to for the same good food. Geoff knows me by name and Theresa remembers my regular order. Always friendly, interested and the food is always good. No pretensions and good value for money. Relax and enjoy the atmosphere. If they have cremé bruléé, order quickly - Geoffs wife makes these and they sell out fast.
