Set in the heart of a local low key neighbourhood, Grounded is exactly that - unpretentious, unaffected and very much in the spirit of the coffee bar in the "Friends" series. Filled with books and leather satchels, simple wooden tables and walls that always feature artwork, news, innovative ideas, post it notes and the such, Grounded serves a regular menu, written on chalkboard above the barissta, which combines clean cut healthy eating with simple choices. You can round it off with what is arguably the best carrot cake in Pretoria and a hot, creamy cappuccino. Owned by David & Karolien, this down to earth eatery is frequented by many of the arty set and also has regular Fri evening music session - jazz being a favourite - as well as free weekly Zulu lessons.
Going there is a little like being in your home, except that you don't have to make anything yourself.
If you planning for a Saturday ... go early ... else you won't be going at all.
