This place is not for dinner. Menu choice is pizza or pasta, with assorted starters. The service was dismal despite only 7 people in the room on a Monday night. Waiter brought mains to the table without taking away starter plates so no place left in the table . Poor lighting had to ask for a candle twice eventually took one from the table from which people had just left. During the meal the waiters had an animated discussion at the pizza oven 2 m from our table. Food is good, but pricey fir the fare. R125 for a chicken pizza.
Went there for Sunday lunch on Mother’s Day, lovely venue but that’s where it ends. Under staffed, waited 40 minutes for carpaccio just to be told that they had run out while everyone else’s food was ready. Nothing special about the food that did come. Be careful if live band is playing as they added a R150.00 cover band charge to our bill, never seen this before and was not told about it either, wasn’t a special menu or private event. Won’t be going back in a hurry, a pity for such a nice venue.
I cannot get enough of 44 Stanley, and also Il Giardino. It is a bit pricey, but if you take into account the great outside venue and the absolute amazing food, I can justify it. Try the cheese platter, or the tapas selection or any pizza. Everything is great and served with a smile. Sundays there are live bands, but sometimes there is a cover charge. Well worth it to enjoy a great afternoon.
This place has gone down the tube. I decided to take my wife for a romantic evening out. Our carpaccio starter - 5 small tasteless pieces of meat - for R 105? was tasteless -. Our brinjal bake arrived frozen on our plates. Red wine luke warm. Need I say more....
Beautiful venue. On Sundays this is the place to be. Wonderful live music in the courtyard. The food is delicious, we had a Antipasti Platter, it must be one of the best I've had. The fillet melts in your mouth, the portions are big. At first they seem a bit expensive but with such big portions the food is well priced. Efficient staff. One of my favorite restaurants.
