If you’re looking for a quick bite and love tapas, you’re in for a treat. Vegetarians can go for the tostones – crispy pressed plantains served with chimichurri sauce. Though a bit bland, the portion size makes up for it.
For something fishy, choose the divine prawn tostones – three crispy pressed plantains and three chargrilled Argentinian prawns, served with chimichurri sauce. Perfectly cooked, the prawns have a tangy and garlicy taste. For something meaty with a kick, enjoy the 10 buffalo wings, seasoned with a Louisiana hot sauce and jalapeño aioli, and topped with thinly sliced julienne carrots and celery.
For dessert, the only option is churros with chocolate sauce.
There’s a very limited wine offering, but what stands out most are the signature tequila cocktails. For something fruity and sweet, try the Candy Crush – a house-made jelly tot infused with Jose Cuervo tequila, tonic water and popping candy. Less sweet is the Tea Tyme, made with thyme-infused Jose Cuervo, lemon juice, honey syrup, agave syrup and hibiscus tea, served in an elegant teacup.
Making a booking is easy and hassle-free. The waiters are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, but they could do with more customer care.
Inside, the restaurant is beautifully designed, with rich textures of velvet on the couches and seats at the bar. The subtle incorporation of gold adds a touch of sophistication to the overall aesthetic. The music is lively, picking up the tempo as the evening progresses; it’s almost like you’re at a pre-club, where you make your first stop for a quick bite and drink before going off to a real club.

Awesome layout and design! Never ate any food but what we took away was just frustration with the tequila menu. No prices on any items so it’s not ideal asking for the price on several tequilas options and waiting on every request. Not exactly a “tequila tasting bar” - Staff may also be new and system is going through some ‘teething’ - had to ask 3 times for our bill only to be asked on the 3rd time, what did you order I’ve never seen you before...
Had been here once before when this little gem had just opened. We decided to go back and try the food, given the recent award they received from EatOut for best Mexican! Not what we South Africans have come to expect from more main stream "Mexican" style eateries. They offer a small, but very authentic menu with fresh and hand prepared ingredients. Highly recommend the huaraches (little oval tortillas made with yellow corn masa) with grilled kingklip and a tequila lime mayo. Deelish!
Excellent service, great food, outstanding tequilas, definitely will be there every Saturdays, can't wait for your juicy cheese burger, and the casamigo tequila, keep it guys,I really love your bar
Great service! Very friendly and knowledgable staff. Tapas and tequilas were #1. Secret entrance really sets the mood.
Went with friends on a Friday. We loved how exclusive the whole thing feels. You enter through a very unassuming (but fully operational) launderette. The decor is on point very classy with drinks to match.
Wow wow wow! Super amazing experience. You can taste that all the ingredients are expertly hand made for every cocktail. Also very creative twists on tequila cocktails where you'd never know you're drinking tequila. Bar staff super friendly and knowledgable. Sat with two friends at the bar and was served by Sasha and Dylan. Will be back for sure!
Learned about this place from friends... a true speakeasy... you walk through a real laundromat to a hidden gem upstairs. The decor is amazing and the vibe is unmatched. Service is 100%. Our waiter Prince was on point from food to cocktails. I will become a regular for sure!
Felt the need to write my own review and respond to the previous negative review.
Prices are super fair given the high quality of the ingredients.
Tortillas for the huaraches (similar to tacos) are hand-made from yellow corn masa to order. Not floury as there is no flour in them. Very fresh and very tasty like Mexican street food.
Buffalo wings are great. House made hot sauce is spicy and tnagy and jalapeño aioli is rich and balances the flavours superbly.
No real surprises re the menu. Waiters know the prices of everything... in fact I ordered a Don Julio 1942 for R400 a shot and I have been around to all the best places in Joburg and this price was by far the most reasonable (other places between R500-700).
A super cool vibe, friendly service, perfect atmosphere for drinks and great snacks to pair with them.
Heard about this place that was at the old Griffin and decided to give it a try.
The tortillas were floury and average at best. The buffalo wings were very standard, and the acidic mayonnaise overpowered them. Other portions were small and overpriced.
90% of the drinks menu doesn’t have pricing so be prepared for surprises.
Overall a disappointing experience. Its a “new” place so I hope they manage to get it right.
Rare and unique selection of tequila and Mezcal.....
