The service is excellent , food especially bunnies are tops, Best Beans and butter chicken bunnies which is a deliciously made only place in Durban you can find best Butter Chicken Bunny.
Can't comment on food as there was non! Just awful.. Waited over an hour for our food.. Walked out without a meal.. R700 voucher wasted on just a few drinks.. very disappointing
I will start by saying the food I ate was good. The buffet is authentic and well done. The food is not oily, has a depth of flavour, good quality ingredients and is reflective of typical Durban cuisine. Their crab curry speciality is delicious (order 24 hours before). Service is attentive but chaotic. On all three occasions I ate there I had multiple people ask me the same thing, without result. Getting the wine involved four people asking me if everything was okay, and one trip to bar to fetch the damn bottle myself. But all these points are but a minor detail compared to the fact that they only play one 3 minute elevator music cover song on repeat. If you're there for two hours, you will hear it 40 times. If like me, you're there for three nights, you will hear it 120 times. This makes Jeera the only restaurant I know of more irritating than Vida e Café which played that same damn CD for ten years straight (at least it had ten tracks). Much like my wine, at least five people promised to sort it out, but by the third night they switched to defence stating that Jeera only plays one song on repeat and if I didn't like it I could go elsewhere. Which I did. At the end of the day, the tongue cannot enjoy the moment when the ears are bleeding.
This is not a review based on the food, it's based on their service. For the past two weeks I had phoned Jeera 5 times! (Yes I'm not exaggerating) requesting for a sample menu of their Saturday night buffet. Reason being is that I wanted to take my beloved partner out on his birthday and to make sure Jeera was the right place ( in terms of his tastes and preferences ) I needed the sample menu. 5 times I gave my email address to them and my number. Complained I have phoned before but no attempts were made to send it. I entirely understand if Jeera cannot send the sample menu. But please don't promise for a menu to be sent and keep the potential customer waiting and make them call over and over again. Because of this I decided not to go to Jeera.
My wife and I had a memorable late lunch at Jeera, our waitress Dioni was very helpful with our choices of prawn curry and the crab curry. prawn curry was really good , fresh tomato based, quite spicy but really good. The Crab curry was the show stopper, messy but excellent.really intense and spicy...worth the trip from CPT.
