Owner's description

They are striving for the most sustainable, conscious, moral and nutritious way of eating.
For Lexi's, that means mostly plants and very little processed foods. They have added some sustainable, free-range meat or fish options on the menu to include those flexitarians out there as they realise that not everyone's journey is the same. Creating a space where there is already an awakening in the consciousness behind how your meal came to be on your plate is already a massive step towards a healthy, sustainable, cruelty-free life.
So, whether you are vegan, vegetarian, banting, paleo or just trying to make small healthier choices everyday, remember that in the end there are no rules. Eat what makes you feel strong. Eat in a way that makes you feel proud of what you are putting in your body.

After reading the Woolies food magazine article about this establishment, I was primed and ready to enjoy its offerings. Called them up, made a booking and that was that. The booked time approaches, I pick up my friend and we head on down the Lexi's. Upon arrival, we are greeted by a waiter who seats us where ever we would like, as the place is rather quiet and tables a plenty. There were a few other patrons dotted around the space quietly going about their business of eating and chatting and drinking. Menu perused, we decided to share the sweet potatoe wedges & the mixed mushrooms. For the mains I ordered a Warrior burger and she a Raw and Radiant salad. Starters were superbly, although lots of sweet potatoe and a small amount of mushrooms. The warrior burger was a total let down, it had kind of just been thrown together the way it looked and tasted, I think the chefs might've been tired after a long day.. anyways, couldn't finish it, it was not tasty, no flavours made themselves known. The salad wasn't much better, also way tooo much sauce and rocket, the flavours weren't balanced at all in either of the meals, like they were prepared out of in a rush, when the restaurant is quite empty. Needless to say both meals were sent back. Oh I almost forgot to mention, the wine was tasty and delicious on ice. I might presume the meals might be quite different when Lexi herself is in the kitchen. One can only hope.
I've become a religious Lexi's customer; basically eating there weekly (often more than that) every since they opened. After moving back from London, I struggled so much in finding restaurants like this. Until I found Lexi's. Everything is delicious. The black rice risotto is a stand out, as is the red velvet latte. I will be going weekly for years to come.
For someone who never chooses vegetarian meals, its a wonder that I've been here so many times. Or perhaps it is because the food is packed with flavors that eating more plants is great! The beetroot falafel is the best! I could eat it every day. Dessert was average for me. The service was superb though, really helpful and knowledgeable staff who will make you want to come back!
My sister and I dropped in for lunch on a wintery Saturday. We were received instantly by very friendly wait staff and promptly ordered two absolutely delicious fruit juices. I had a black rice bowl and my sister a wrap - all of it exotic and delicious! As a meat-eater I didn't miss the meat at all because the dishes were so chock full of a gazillion other interesting and yummy things! But there are meaty options as well - a "safe space" for omnivores looking to explore plant-based options. I also had a second juice, I couldn't resist. This restaurant is conscientious and clever from the front door to the kitchen! Everything from responsibly sourced meat to metal and glass straws and all the superfoods you can think of! My recommendation: Try the fruit juices, they'll blow your mind!
