It's a really good, no longer great, local eatery ... but can we update the menu PLEASE. It's loosing its sparkle and relying too much on its position next to the rushing waves, rather than the food and friendly, attentive wait staff.

We love Live Bait in Kalk Bay - generally have a calamari starter and the line fish with the wine sauce as it’s always so good. Our favourite time is lunchtime when the tide’s high and there’s a good southeaster blowing as the sea is so dramatic on the rocks.

Live Bait in Muizenberg was a great disappointment when it came to their line fish which my husband and I both had. My lemon sauce was unrecognizable as lemon. My sweet potato chips were good as was my hubby’s tartar sauce. ThevYellow tail not good and we wondered if it had been frozen.

I really cannot recomment Live Bait. After years of being my favourite 'fish and chips ' destination the situation changed this week. I took friends to Live Bait with the promise of a wonderful eating experience. Sadly the fish was totally overdone and the chips was unedible. The waitress just shooked her head. Although she agreed that the food was not up to standard, she herself had no power to make amends. Because of my friends I didn't want to make a big drama out of the situation . Sorry Live Bait......you have lost a client.

Fabulous lunch - would definitely recommend the pan seared paprika calamari it was cooked to perfection! Our waitress Sam, although 7 months pregnant, was an absolute gem; attentive without being obtrusive. We will definitely be back again soon.
