You don't go to the Lookout for the food, you go for the view and the laid back vibe. Service is good and the food is okay - but it's a Plett institution and worth the visit.

When you visit Lookout and they have kabeljou available go for it! Excellent!

Attempt two at finding a proper restaurant on the afternoon of 5 January set us up for yet another disappointment. The place was busy admittedly, but the reception could not be worse. I am still at a loss for whether there was space or not, but getting anything out of the manager-type person at the entrance was impossible. None of the hordes of waiters hovering about seemed to care too much either. It's a pity, as I have always wanted to try coming to this well-known venue. Instead, I was just really left wondering whether going out in Plett was worth it at all.

You have to try the Pint o’ Prawns, served in a mug with garlic mayo. The views of the mountains, lagoon and the beach will keep your eyes busy while you munch on snacks, seafood and grills. A great family restaurant.
On a recent trip to have lunch with out of town family we were horrified at the treatment we were given. When I complained about the 2 very small sardines I was given for R50 the managers reply was we have rent to pay, I am not here to make friends, we are here to make money I was left speechless! The seafood chowder was white sauce and carrots with no flavour at all of the sea and the baskets ordered for our children were all overfried. Never again will you see me there! Since we have spoken to many Capetonians who find it way overpriced and they seem to be resting on their venue and clearly charging stupid prices to pay their rent.
