Owner's description

Myatt Café & Chocolatier offers a slice of European café culture in the fashion wing of Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront. Its elegance can be experienced through the fine gourmet food by renowned confectionary chef, Octavio Gutierrez Gama. Step from the busy shopping centre into style and sophistication with designer Villeroy and Boch crockery; perfectly-cut sugar cubes; designer Vitra wire-chairs; Eileen Grey tables; and striking cake displays – all carefully chosen to create an haute couture showroom café. For a quick pick-me-up, sip Myatt’s specialised tea blends such as High Ali Mountain Special blend, Chinese Scented Black, and Blooming Snow. Or, if you have more time to linger, enjoy one of the various breakfast ranges, light meals or out-of-this-world sweet treats.

Terrible service and food. Rude staff. Highly Unrecommended by me.
A friend told me about Myatts gorgeous macaroons and, being a big fan of the Parisian treat, had to sample them. Wow, they exceeded expectations! We stayed for tea, everything was so scrumptious! The cakes beautiful, moist and tasty, the coffee unbelievable and the service just perfect.
Myatt Cafe is beautiful to the eye. I dropped by for a chocolate cake - chocolate cake with a chocolate ganache filling covered in chocolate ganache. It was a beautiful cake. A whiff of the cake didnt reveal a deeply chocolate richness. Maybe the ganache was masking the smell? I cut through the cake with my fork. It looked dry. Maybe my eyes were deceiving me? No. It was actually dry. The lack of chocolate smell was because the cake was quite bland. There were no layers. How disappointing at R45. After paying, I made my complaint and was given a refund. Excellent service, beautiful decor but bad chocolate cake. Ill have to try something else next time.
