Owner's description

Since 1957 the Pizzeria Napoletana has been a much-loved family restaurant. Beginning with Luigi and Maria Barletta the restaurant has stood the test of time. As life changed outside, the quality ambiance within remained; and today still going strong the Pizzeria Napoletana is run by their son Micky.
The secret family recipes from generations ago still in use, prepared with only the freshest ingredients. The pasta and bread is made by hand, daily. The Pizzeria offers you a taste of Naples: a chance to experience traditional Italian meals prepared as they were in Italy many years ago.

If you love a traditional Italian then you cannot go wrong with the food at Pizzeria! This is a favourite of ours and having come to know Mickey and Luigi can highly recommend this for a delicious bite. Whatever you favourite meal - pasta, pizza, veal or even a sirloin - it is consistently excellent. So if you a Sea Point local or feeling venturing into the hood, pop in to Pizzeria and enjoy the Italian home cooked food and vibe!

Forget about previous experiences with this restaurant over 6 months ago because it is now under new management .

The ambience has improved , the service is now friendly ably supported by the new Manager Mickey, and the food and menu is very inviting.

We took friends there last week who were equally impressed and we shared an enjoyable evening together.

With a choice of Itallian courses together with excellent veal dishes to choose from, I tried a more conventional dish Kingklip Thermadore which was to be highly recommended. Our guests chose veal dishes which were excellent and also sirloin steak which was tender as marshmallow with plentiful supply of mushrooms and sauces.

No corkage charges and affordable prices puts this restaurant on my short list for future visits.

This place comes straight from the set of Gordon Ramsey's kitchen nightmares. The decor is from the 80s. The TVs are wood paneled crt from the 70s. The bar is falling apart and poorly covered with an Italian flag.
Fake flowers covered in dust litter the walls on old swivel TV stands. The patrons are (as the owner described to us) on average 800 years old.

The menu is poorly put together; spaced badly, seemingly to save paper. They have a large selection on the menu but only stock one red wine and two types of beer.

The food was horrific; I ordered the pepper steak (medium rare) R99, it was a mashed prego steak which was paper thin and peculiarly white. It arrived well done and doused in an oily pepper sauce. The chips that accompanied it was that of a fish and chips shop's 'slap chips' .
Some people ordered a side of veg which was a bowl of diced carrots.

This restaurant is way past its prime and like the majority of it patrons it is just passing time waiting to die.

I highly recommend that you go somewhere else.

Nice restaurant, but please ask Pierro the owner to refrain from hoooting outside Clarens Rd house at 11pm in the evening! Or any other time for that matter! Get out of your car and press the buzzer or use your cell phone! Is it too much to ask?? No consideration for neighbours!

We had the misfortune of eating out at Pizzeria Napoletana in Sea Point on Old Years Eve. We ordered a Greek Salad and Garlic Bread as a starter. After quite some time, the Greek Salad was brought to the table with cubes of cheese that was nothing like Feta cheese and when enquiring what had happened to the Feta cheese, were told they had none. Later the waiter came to the table to tell us the Pizza oven was not working, so no garlic bread only to see Pizzas being brought out to other tables. We them ordered spaghetti Napolitana but were later told there was no Napolitana sauces. Finally we ordered ice cream with hot chocolate sauce, but no hot chocolate sauce! Not even an apology! Never again!
