This flagship of the Rockets group was opened in 2012 on 4th Ave Parkhurst. With the skills gained from their experience in Rivonia, Rockets has established itself as one of the main players in a very competitive environment, through refining their business model into the incredibly slick operation it is today.
Due to the intensity of the walk-in trade, this restaurant does not take bookings on weekends from Friday night through to Sunday afternoon. They offer a fine selection of foods such as pizza, pasta, steaks and much more.
Excellent all round service even with multiple patrons serving us, efficiency is the way.
On Thursday the 20th of 2018, I went to Rockets Restuarant in Parkhurst with a friend for the first time. I had a great time and enjoyed myself until it was time to pay for my bill. The waitron, named Cynthia, demanded a tip from us. She told my friend and I that it was Rocket Policy and compulsory at Rocket Reatuarant to pay a 10% tip from the almost R300 bill to her as our watron. We had already tipped her R9 but she was not satisfied. She also told us that she doesn’t get a salary she only lives off tips! We told her we are students and R9 is all we can give her ...she then decided to go get us the R3 change she was keeping from us. This upsets me because nowhere in South African legislature does it state that customers must almost be held at ransom just for a tip!!l reported her to management and they accommodative and gave me their full attention and ears . However I feel as if they were supposed to call Cynthia to confirm what I was reporting, especially since Cynthia ran away when she saw me walking to her management. I feel like management was lastly , supposed to take down my details to update me further about this matter or just to tell me it has been resolved. All they did was apologize and tell me they will speak to Cynthia . This experience really dented what was a great day and time at the restaurant. I don’t see myself going there again
