Seafood is never more pleasurable than when it’s eaten within a stone’s throw of the sea. The Fat Fish serves only sustainable seafood and sushi lovers won’t want to miss half-price weekend specials such as California Queens, California rolls topped with a tempura prawn or salmon.
Grilled catch of the day could be hake or monkfish served with baby potatoes and vegetables steamed with lemon thyme and sauced in butter. Monkfish tail, roasted and served with butterbean and tomato stew and salsa verde, or a poke bowl with salmon or tofu, are also worth trying.
For a special celebration, seafood platters for one or two are a treat. Vegetarians are catered for with dishes such as Thai green vegetable curry, and green pea and ricotta wholewheat linguine with mint gremolata. Big Fat Tapas includes appetiser-sized portions of Cajun deep-fried baby squid, lentil and pea samoosa, oysters, and whitebait in black garlic aioli. Meat eaters can choose chargrilled ostrich or first-rate Chalmar beef from the grill menu.
Don’t even think about leaving without sampling the Fat Delights. Think scrumptious chilli chocolate mousse with notes of coffee or white chocolate crème brûlée with berries and lavender shortbread.
