What a delight to receive food made with love and wonderfully fresh ingredients. The detail in the preparation and presentation is top class. Not to mention the friendly atmosphere that is beaming with passion. I would highly recommend this awesome gem to enjoy a great meal amongst friends.

We had the privilege of eating at this amazing restaurant on the 16th June. WOW WOW WOW. The food is out of this world. I had the pork belly and it was by far the best I have ever tasted. It is served with Asian stir fry vegetables which was to die for. You HAVE to try the cheesecake. The experience here is one of a kind.

Urban Playground, wow. What a vibe! If you’re looking for some of the best food in the country, then Urban Playground is the place to be as they also have an atmosphere as vibrant as the food. Fun, flavour and friends are three words we would describe Urban Playground with. Dog friendly too and our English Bulldog is always so happy there and so welcomed. You just have no reason not to try Urban Playground.

Urban Playground is part of The Sense of Taste Chef School and with that in mind one can only expect greatness. The chefs have an infectious energy and passion and it is showcased in their culinary art they whip up! Gloriously generous portions and meticulous care with take away orders. Urban Playground is and will continue to be a hot spot in Maitland.

Our best ever new find! Their eisbein is my all-time favourite and their pea soup a dream come true! Everything from their pizzas to the chocolate brownie dessert is perfectly presented (even when its a take away). We've been for breakfasts, lunch and dinners and they never disappoint!

My mom and I had the Lebanese Flatbreads which were amazing. I took the Eisbein home as a take away. I was fantastic. I would highly recommend a visit to Urban Playground.

In 2021, Sense of Taste Chef School opened up their own restaurant called Urban Playground, featuring street food (artisanal Pizza, Eisbein, Asian broth, Polish kielbasa and Lebanese flatbreads) right on the school premises in Maitland. Being fans of the school, some colleagues and I decided to check out their restaurant and sample their hottest, most talked about menu item: Whole Peking Duck – described as their Star of the Show. Cured in their very own duck room and then slow roasted to perfection, this made-for-4 dish includes 20 x oriental pancakes, hoisin sauce, cucumber and spring onion and the most delicious whole duck that's carved into pieces at your table. You need to order it 48 hours in advance and boy, is it worth the wait! It's a fabulous sharing experience of outstanding taste: the succulent crispness of the duck paired with the umami-spicy sauce and the fresh bite of cucumber and spring onion all wrapped in a pancake plus attentive service made for a very satisfying and convivial lunch.

The friendly staff make you feel welcome immediately. From the roadside seating, one is able to see your food being prepared which for me is a selling point as you feel so connected. The vibey music and with staff that are so animated adds to the great atmosphere. Kudos to Chef Peter, Chef Byron and their Team of budding Chefs. My favourite is the Eisbein, not forgetting those awesome Pizzas. Been there a few times and owe them another visit soon. Thanks Urban Playground.

Urban Playground has the most unique and delicious menu that will get your tastebuds dancing. Chefs & staff are very friendly and welcoming and always interacting with their customers making them feel comfortable. Urban even has a vibe that will keep you coming back. If you looking for a cosy place to unwind and relax, Urban Playground is the place to be.

Urban Playground can not be recommended enough. As a Capetonian who loves eating out and trying new places I am so glad I stumbled upon this little gem. Arrive a stranger, leave feeling part of the family. There is just so much to love, the food is next level (& I have tried most things on the menu personally 🤣). The eating area is beautifully decorated and has serious heaters to keep you warm even in the middle of winter. However the most magic part is the vibe. Chef Peter has put together such a beautiful mix of chefs all with a passion and flair for food that not only tastes good but looks good too. Make sure to book and BYOB as currently there is not alcohol sold.

Urban Playground is just amazing, you get a little bit of everything. From amazing food to an incredibly friendly staff. Getting to watch your food be prepared in front of you, to jamming when the evening approaches. My kids are crazy about the pizza and brownies, and we absolutely loved everything we've tasted thus far, from breakfast to desserts. A definite must try and i recommend this place to everyone looking for a good place to eat with a good vibe to just chill
