Owner's description

Situated in the centre of the One&Only lobby is Vista Bar & Lounge. As its name suggests, incredible panoramic views of Table Mountain are enjoyed through a floor-to-ceiling wall of glass. Here, guests may gather to enjoy all-day dining, a spectacular afternoon tea (from 2.30pm to 5.30pm) and evenings filled with music and an electric vibe.

Cannot fault the view and ambience here, very chic and high brow. Their selection of cake, desserts and sweets was varied and well crafted. The only thing I didn't like from the sweet buffet was their macaroons, crunchy rather than soft and chewy. I also wish they would've had the Cape Malay koesister rather than the Afrikaans koeksister, it is Cape Town after all. My other bug bear is you're served a plated selection of savory bites, none of which were spectacular, good but not amaze. I would've preferred having the savory selection as part of the buffet instead.
We were very disappointed! Poor selection of savouries, and many of the sweet dishes contained pork gelatine or alcohol. For an afternoon tea, basic sandwiches were missing. What was on the menu, really lacked imagination. Considering the One and Only tea in other countries, this was a poor show. Culinary staff could do with some coaching on what an afternoon tea should be. The only plus point was the selection of teas, although we still had to send our first selection back because the water in the pot was cold! Service was rather slow as well. Overall, no comparison to afternoon tea in other countries and certainly not what we expected from a hotel of this kind.
sebrandtd@gmail.com. Can you please give me a quotation for a fruity non alcoholic fruity drink for about 18 adults And two kinds please. Any non-alcoholic drink will be perfect as long as its not to sweet. I'm not sure about the date yet but it will probably be on n Friday, Saturday or Sunday between 16:00 and 17:00 in one of the following two months (April 14). Thank you.

This is a really nice bar with a cosmopolitan luxury feeling. Also, afternoon tea is nice - a bit too small selection of cakes and scones etc. but tea selection is very good and its a nice venue. However I have a serious issue with the booking policy - some time ago I spontaneously called to book afternoon tea that same afternoon. Not possible, they were fully booked. I did the same call a couple of days later, same answer. I decided to go there anyway with a friend to see if maybe they had a cancellation. And - Vista Bar was almost empty! No problem to get a table any time that afternoon? Hm...
