Cape Town hosts its first sushi festival this December

SushiFrom 16 to 17 December, Cape Town will host its first-ever sushi festival. Featuring popular restaurants like Sushi Box and Active Sushi, and entertainment like Good Luck and The Rudimentals, the festival will no doubt attract Capetonians looking for a weekend of fresh fish and fun at the Green Point Cricket Club.

Attendees can expect craft beer, wine pairings and champagne lounges to accompany their sushi feast, and there will also be a supervised kids’ area. The line-up of vendors continues to grow, but currently includes Hokkaido, Blue Marlin, Sanctuary Sushi, Asami’s and Wok Your Way food truck.

The day tickets are quirkily named after various favourite sushi types. Pay R200 for the Nigiri, which allows you access into the festival with live entertainment and limited tasters of sushi. R500 will get you the Salmon Rose, which allows you additional access and features, including VIP restrooms, a shaded VIP area with seating, a private bar and access to the champagne lounge. Children of 12 years and younger get free access into the festival and the supervised kids’ play area.

Buy tickets at Webtickets and remember to take all the necessities for a festival: sunglasses, picnic blankets and lots of sunscreen – it’s sure to be a scorcher. Also check Cape Town Sushi Festival’s Facebook page as they add entertainment and sushi vendors to the line-up.
