One of the Capes oldest wine farms, the prestigious Groot Constantia estate, received a gold medal at the recent Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show, for their Gouverneurs Shiraz 2006.

According to cellarmaster, Boela Gerber, they are over the moon with the award as out of the 1024 wines entered, only 24 gold medals were awarded, of which only three were awarded to Shiraz

If this years accomplishment and Boelas enthusiasm is anything to go by, more great  achievements are on the cards – he already regards the latest batch of Shiraz wines as their best wine this year, describing it as very spicy, peppery wines with good structure and colour.
