The former private chef to the late Nelson Mandela, Brett Ladds, has opened a new daytime bakery and bistro called Chefs @ 566 in Garsfontein, Pretoria.

Brett worked for Madiba for a decade and also cooked for celebrities such as Michael Jackson, Naomi Cambell, Quincy Jones and Queen Elizabeth. Now those in the Jacaranda city can experience his skills first hand at the Garsfontein space.

The eatery is designed to allow patrons to engage with the chef while they watch their food being prepared. The affordable menu will feature everything from early morning breakfast breads and pastries (baked on site by Brett and his team) to bistro-style dishes like Norwegian salmon, rib-eye steak and gourmet burgers with blue cheese and avo.

Chefs @ 566 is located at 566 Serene Street, Garsfontein, and is open Monday to Saturday from 7am to 6pm. Brett hopes to grow Chefs @ 566 into a franchise development in the near future, so stay tuned to the Facebook page for more details.
