Everyone’s favourite MasterChef SA judge Pete Goffe-Wood has teamed up with chef Charl du Preez to launch an exquisite new menu at On The Rocks restaurant in Blouberg. The menu will feature primarily fresh local seafood fare as well as meat and vegetarian options. Every dish has been inspired by the fantastic view from On The Rocks.

Pete calls it “the restaurant with the most stunning and spectacular view in all of South Africa”. Charl echoes this idea: “We both agreed that the menu should reflect the view in that it’s not complicated, but beautiful to look at and most certainly something for everybody to enjoy.” Dishes include fresh oysters on a bed of foraged kelp, cured Klein Karoo ostrich carpaccio, polenta-crusted hake atop West Coast mussels and deep-fried hake tacos. Also new is a Cape Malay seafood curry served with tomato sambals, raita and jasmine rice; braised Overberg lamb shoulder with a minted pea puree and bacon jam; and a vegetarian tagliatelle dish made with foraged mushrooms, veloute, parmesan shavings and wild herbs.

A wide variety of wines, cocktails and other beverages are also available to complement any of the menu selections. There is also a breakfast menu available, which is served daily from 9am to 12noon.

Goffe-Wood concludes: “On The Rocks is a hidden gem. It must be the most beautifully located restaurant in the country, if not the world. Nowhere else have I seen Table Mountain so displayed in all its glory and you couldn’t be closer to the sea without it being dangerous. I’m truly proud and honoured that I could be part of taking On The Rocks to a new level that I’m convinced will blow people away.”

Another new addition to On The Rocks is the Seaside Coffee Hatch, which offers speciality coffees and pastries from 7am to cyclists, runners, leisurely strollers and other early risers.
