We have been patrons of Hussar since 1969. I think that says something about the quality of this establisment as we are carnivors! I always have the Steak Tartare (almost always!) which is in the top 3 I have tasted. Last night we visited again and as always the Steak Tartare was excellent. However, the second time in a row we had to send back my wife's rump steak being overcooked. The second one was okay, but not of the standard we are used to for over 40 years and it was the recommended cut!
PS, As my Steak Tartare was a little on the "dry" side - I ordered an extra egg. Please be careful, they must have a golden hen in the kitchen as Hussar added R10 to the bill for the egg yoke!
Cold steaks, cold chips, cold sides. Poor service. Disappointed after hearing all the good reviews. I am sticking to the Baron.
A wonderful spot in Willowbridge and they have consistently served excellent meals to us each time we have visited. The waitron staff are very knowledgable about the meat sold and offer good suggestions for items to accompany the meal. The restaurant is very cosy, particularly so in winter with the fireplace and "library decorated section". Watch out for wonderful specials in the winter time.
The best steak ever. And good service.
