  • Dear Lizelle, Rudolf and your amazing Serendipity Team We just want to thank you both and your Team for making my birthday on the 6th Jan 2018 so incredibly special and divine. You made us feel so special and I will treasure my birthday card and the memories forever as I put it into my scrapbook with all the photos. Your cuisine in taste and presentation definitely is deserved of your recent award – and we don’t know you but we feel so proud of you and blessed to be able to experience your offering. Your welcome was so warm and we just loved Rudolf and his description of the options, we actually wanted to try all of them, the way he was describing them!!!! I can’t remember our waiter’s name, featured in one of the photos, but he, too, was so knowledgeable and passionate about the wines he described. Keep it up and remain inspired to dazzle visitors with your incredible talents.

  • Serendipity offers a lovely, intimate dining experience and is not just for grabbing dinner. Memories were made here. We were invited into the lounge for pre-dinner drinks. It is evident that a lot of love and attention to detail goes into all aspects of this special restaurant. The owners, Rudolf & Lizelle, are very involved in the experience. The menu is explained, if you want an explanation, by either of them. They have their own herb & vegetable gardens and Rudolf does a lot of hunting and fishing for the menu himself. He also sources special & interesting wines and craft beer from lesser known estates all around South Africa. The menu changes frequently. We had both starters – the one a lovely Venison duo of Tartare and Bobotie with homemade spekboom chutney, the other homemade Smoked Snoek cakes with creamy Tomato Maize risotto and korrelkonfyt. Our Main course of melt-in-the-mouth Springbok loin was served with a delicious starch of Umnqusho – samp and speckled beans cooked with stock; and a lick-the-plate-Jus with a touch of wholegrain mustard. For dessert we had a sort of Lemon Meringue where the elements were each individually made, consisting of lemon buchu meringue, lemon curd, lemon Panna cotta and lemon marmalade shortbread. All our dishes were expertly paired with really beautiful and interesting wines. I think the value for money is excellent and the evening was extremely special and so enjoyable, interesting, but most importantly, so real. We will definitely return to this most Serendipity-ious eatery soon. Thank you Rudolf & Lizelle! Talented you are.

  • Words can't describe the sensation of flavours my wife and I experienced last night. Chef lizelle you are a hidden gem in one of the most picturesque settings in South Africa. Rudolf and staff were amazing and entertained us throughout. The highlight of the night goes to the smoked snoek fish cakes with all sorts of taste explosions accompanied with them, also the slow cooked pork belly and springbok loin... simply world class. We look forward to our next visit in December. PAUL AND TANYTH HUGHES
